Al Shabaab has proved beyond any doubt that they do not care for the sanctity of life. The militia group unleashes terror, leaving misery and despair to the Somali people. They destroy schools, hospitals and institutions that provide vital services to the Somali civilians.

The Al-Shabaab has no specific targets. They will go for women and children, the old in society, government officials and the clergy that oppose their inhumane and unreligious approach on governance. The terrorist group based in the horn of Africa region does not spare even the ones in hospitals. They bomb almost everything that seems to help people.

In a recent terror activity by the Al-Shabaab, a United Nations (UN) truck convoy en-route to several parts of the horn of Africa country was attacked while delivering humanitarian aid. The militia group heavily armed and covering their heads with black hoods, sprayed bullets on trucks, which were carrying food aid. A number of UN staff lost their lives in cold blood on their way to aid the affected Somali civilians.

The Al-Shabaab ambushed the convoy using improvised explosive devise, IEDs. The tracks not only contained foodstuffs but also sanitary pads, clothing, medicine, teaching aid and also COVID-19 vaccines, all of which were stolen or burnt down by the terrorists. A few trucks narrowly escaped the attack and had a chance to call for backup from the nearby security forces in the area.

Inaccessibility to food due to aid not coming through into the country, lack of shelter and education as a result of Al-Shabaab burning houses and schools and lack of medical services, as a result of attacks on hospitals; these are the works of the Al-Shabaab, an evil that should be annihilated.

Al-Shabaab claims to be the alternative to current government in Somalia. The group further claims to provide vital services to the civilians, but contrary to that, the Somali people have agonized in the hands of the militias. However, hope remains in this country as efforts by AMISOM and other security forces combat the terrorist group.
